Tavern Brawl is one of Hearthstone`s lighter game modes Hearthstone provides five primary game modes in which to do battle: Play mode Adventure mode Arena Friendly Challenge Tavern Brawl Game mode affects several secondary play factors, including matchmaking, rewards, and deck selection. Each Tavern Brawl presents a limited time opportunity to face other players in special matches with unique rules. They cannot be collected by players, and are not available outside of their specific Tavern Brawl events. As well as being matched against other random opponents, players are able to challenge players on their friends list to a Tavern Brawl, as a special type of Friendly Challenge The Friendly screen Friendly Challenge, also known as Friendly Play, is a game mode in which players can battle against other players on their friends list in private unranked matches, often referred to as duels. .

An intentionally "fun" game mode, Tavern Brawls offer unique limited time experiences, with far less of a competitive focus than other game modes. Repeated Tavern Brawls

While most weeks see a brand new Tavern Brawl, just under half are reprises of previous Brawls. Since each Brawl is only available for 5 days, this allows players to enjoy old favourites again, and avoids Brawls becoming overly similar due to a desire to explore past mechanics. Most reprises are simple repeat outings, identical to the original Brawl, but some involve changes, such as fixing bugs or balance issues, or even adding in extra elements.

This Tavern Brawl sees all players doing battle as the rogue hero Valeera, with randomized decks consisting entirely of spells. Whenever a spell is cast, a random Yogg-Saron, arguably the most random card ever released Random effects are effects which include some degree of randomness or RNG (random number generation). Random effects introduce an element of chance into Hearthstone. They can be minion of the same mana Mana is the resource used in Hearthstone to play cards and use Hero Powers, each of which has a mana cost that must be paid to use it. The supply of mana is represented by cost is summoned for the player.

This Brawl sees players competing with almost entirely randomised pre-made decks. Players can choose any class, and will then receive a deck randomly composed of neutral and class-specific cards. Decks are composed of 30 cards, but may break the usual card limitation of 2 copies per deck (1 copy per deck for legendaries), allowing any number of copies within a deck. This could be a reference to world PvP common at the Horde town Crossroads, which was prone to random encounters.

Heroic Tavern Brawl

This unique Tavern Brawl resembles an Arena run, and unlike other Brawls has an admission fee (1000 gold, or real money equivalent to USD $9.99). At the start of each run, players must first construct a special Standard format deck from their collection, which will be used for all games in that run. The player is then matched against other Brawlers in a series of games until the player has lost 3 games or won 12, after which they will receive semi-random rewards based on their number of wins. Each player can only participate in 5 runs in total. There are no special rules for this Brawl.

A high-risk, high-reward experience, this Brawl is intended for the most experienced and competitive of players, with a tournament feel. In contrast to most Brawls, Heroic Tavern Brawl is "definitely not for the average player".

Gadgetzan Throw-Down

This Brawl sees players doing battle in the roles of three special heroes - Aya Blackpaw, Don Han`Cho and Kazakus - each has its own Hero Power and semi-randomised premade deck, based on the leader`s faction mechanic.

Matches take place on the Mean Streets of Gadgeztan battlefield.

This Tavern Brawl sees players doing battle with randomly constructed decks. Each deck is composed of seven randomly selected legendary minions, with four copies of each, along with three copies of the unique spell Offensive Play. This 0-mana spell reduces the cost of the next legendary minion the player plays, and all other copies of that card, by 3. With multiple Offensive Plays in each deck, the rate at which the usually costly legendary minions can be put into play soon accelerates.

This Brawl sees players creating their own custom decks using any class Class is the primary determinant of a hero s powers and abilities, and the strongest factor in deck selection. While each hero represents a unique character with their own personality, portrait and sounds, their class determines . Each spell the player casts reduces their hero`s Health and/or Armor by an amount equal to the card`s mana cost, instead of expending mana.

This Brawl sees players creating their own custom decks using any class Class is the primary determinant of a hero s powers and abilities, and the strongest factor in deck selection. While each hero represents a unique character with their own personality, portrait and sounds, their class determines . Each time a minion is played, a random spell of the same mana cost will be generated for the player, with the spell`s cost reduced to 0. Spells may be of any class, and are not affected by the player`s class.

This Winter Veil-themed Brawl sees players creating their own custom decks using any class Class is the primary determinant of a hero s powers and abilities, and the strongest factor in deck selection. While each hero represents a unique character with their own personality, portrait and sounds, their class determines . The Brawl revolves around Winter`s Veil Gifts, special minions with a Deathrattle that grants the destroying player a Stolen Winter`s Veil Gift. The board starts empty, but if at the start of their turn a player has no Winter`s Veil Gifts on their side of the board, a fresh Winter`s Veil Gift will be delivered by Greatfather Winter.

Stolen Winter`s Veil Gift allows the player to Discover a card belonging to the class of the player who controlled the Winter`s Veil Gift minion, with its mana cost reduced by 5. In addition, only cards of 5 cost or higher are Discovered. Players also have a chance to Discover the special card Hardpacked Snowballs.

Instead of a card pack, winning in this Tavern Brawl awards a special card back: Winter Veil Wreath. Be that as it may, players who already own the card back will be awarded the usual Classic card pack instead.

This Tavern Brawl sees players taking on the form of various bosses from previously released adventures. Depending on the class selected before the match, players will do battle as one of nine preset bosses, each with their own Hero Power and premade deck, matching those normally seen in its normal mode encounter.

This Tavern Brawl sees players doing battle with custom decks composed of 10 cards chosen by the player, with only 1 copy of each card allowed. At the start of the game, both players mulligan as normal, but at the start of each turn instead of drawing a card, the player will instead Discover a card from three options matching cards currently in their deck. This Discover does not remove the card from the player`s deck, but instead places a copy into their hand.

Card draw effects do not operate normally during this Brawl: instead of drawing a card from the deck, the player has a copy of Peruse added to their hand. This 1 mana spell can then be used to Discover a card in the same way that players gain new cards at the start of each turn. Put into hand effects similarly generate copies of Peruse.

The combination of these special rules means the player is unable to draw cards normally, but the contents of the deck can still be altered through put into battlefield, shuffle into deck, and replace effects, as well as unique cards like Fel Reaver and Tracking. Because the deck acts as a source for each turn`s Discover effect, altering the contents of the player`s deck will affect which options the player is able to Discover.

This Tavern Brawl sees players doing battle with randomly constructed decks, using a combination of two selected classes. To enter the Brawl the player first chooses a class, after which a deck is randomly generated containing 19 cards suitable to that class. Following the mulligan, the player then chooses from one of three random "second classes", resulting in 11 cards suitable to that class being shuffled into their deck.
